Plastic Acid Orchestra Feat. Maria In The Shower
January 24, 2012 by Admin
Orchestral music meets rock and roots next month when Vancouver’s Vaudeville-inspired indie folk band Maria in the Shower teams up with the 45-piece Plastic Acid Orchestra, a genre-defying Vancouver outfit that bridges the worlds of classical music and rock n’ roll — and showcases fresh young Canadian composers in the process.
Maria in the Shower is Vancouver’s legendary folk cabaret band – wandering minstrels, entertainers cut from old cloth, storytellers traveling often and gathering tales as they go. You will find them anywhere good people and good music gather – festivals, concert halls, parlours, community halls, house concerts, or simply in the street.
Musical Director, Bryan Deans, leads Plastic Acid Orchestra, a full symphony featuring some of Canada’s most promising young composers creating an epic contemporary, rock-infused symphonic world. Designed to cut down barriers between musical genres and bring orchestral music to a wide and diverse audience.
The two-act show will combine Plastic Acid’s cutting-edge instrumental orchestra and Maria in the Shower’s folk cabaret for a dynamic collaboration that will move you in ways an orchestra has never moved you before!
Doors at 7pm
Show starts promptly at 8pm
$20 adv / $30 door (plus service charges)
