A celebration of spring. Fresh ingredients for summer dreams. Make it a date night. Or give serendipity a nudge, you never know who you might meet over a glass of wine, music and culinary treats.
Three beautiful BC wineries representing three regions of BC’s wine country, each pouring three spring releases/top wines, chosen personally by your host for the evening – writer and broadcaster by day, sommelier by night Gloria Chang, founder of culinaryadventures.co. She’ll greet you at the door and take you by the hand on this most delicious culinary adventure to tell you the story of BC wine (and the delectable details behind each winery), with three food pairings, an array of artisanal bread, cheese & ameuse-geules. Musical guests Saxophonist Karla Sleighthome and Trumpeteer Langston Raymond will add Swoon to the Wooing.
As with every great story, be prepared to be engaged, enlightened and entertained. Learn how to take a wine tasting note so you can lock away your favourites into pleasure-filled sensory and digital memory. And come away with a few practical tips on smarter wine buying! You’ll also participate in the world’s first… well, you’ll have to come to find out, won’t you?
Hosted in a gorgeous room – intimate enough to be social, large enough to meet new wine lovers, and welcoming enough to come on your own – overlooking the lights and water of Vancouver, it’ll be a wine tasting (soirée!) like no other.

The District of West Vancouver, Golf West Vancouver and the Vancouver Golf Tour (VGT) are pleased to announce the first-ever VGT Golf West Vancouver shoot-out at Gleneagles Golf Course on May 16, 2012.
The 10-player format for the shoot-out event includes seven Golf Professionals (selected by their rankings on the VGT), James Presnail, head golf professional at Gleneagles, plus one media qualifier and one open qualifier. All 10 players will tee off on the first hole. The player with the highest score at the end of each hole will be eliminated. If there is a tie for high score on a hole a putt or chip off will determine who moves on and who goes home. Only two players will be left by the 9th hole, which will determine the Champion. The purse for the event is $1,750 with the top three competitors sharing in it.
Want in on the action? Starting Sunday, April 29 and running to Saturday, May 5, you have a chance to qualify to take part in the shoot-out and play alongside the likes of Bryn Parry, winner of the 2011 Rogers Canada Cup. Click here to find out more.
The shoot-out begins on the first hole at 3:30 p.m. with a 45-minute clinic put on by the VGT Professionals. The ten players tee off starting at 4:30 p.m. The event is open to spectators and is free to attend.
Please contact the Golf Shop at 604-921-7353 for more information, or to register in the shoot-out’s qualifying week.

LEARN THE FLOWERS
Gabryel Harrison
Winsor Gallery, May 10 – June 3, 2012
Opening Reception: May 10th, 6-8pm
Harrison observes flowers to be a symbol of “humanity’s fragile transience and our increasingly disembodied relation to the physical world.”… Like youth, fame, wealth or love, the loveliness of Harrison’s roses are fleeting. Recognizing their ephemeral nature, she presents her floral subjects dramatically past their prime, their outer petals releasing a final exhale. Bursting past full bloom, the roses are often exaggerated by heavy drips of paint. Sensual and bold, we see this imagery as a constant theme in Harrison’s work, one the artist herself has described as “a final erotic declaration of passion.”
