The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) provides leading financial support for cancer research and delivers community-based support programs and prevention information for all types of cancer. Visit or enquire at the Cancer Society`s North Shore Community Resource Centre.
The Royal Canadian Legion's mission is to serve Veterans, ex-service persons and their dependents, to promote Remembrance, to act in the service of Canada as well as supporting many community activities. Annually the Legion contributes millions of dollars in financial and other assistance to: Veteran Services; Seniors: Care, Housing, Medical Services and Training; Cadets, Scouts, Guides; Youth Sports; Scholarships and Bursaries; Geriatric Education and Charitable Organizations.
Welcome to the Rotary Club of West Vancuver Sunrise. We meet Thursday mornings at 7:00 am to 8:30 am at Rene`s Restaurant, 981 Park Royal Shopping Centre SOUTH, (enter between Scotiabank & Bank of Montreal. The cost per person is $15.00 (includes your breakfast). The West Vancouver Foundation is a non-profit, non-government community fund, dedicated to improving the quality of life in West Vancouver. We assist organizations and people, through grants and awards, with special emphasis on health, education, the arts, social services, and West Vancouver`s physical environment.
The Family Support Centre is operated by the North Shore Branch of the B.C. Schizophrenia Society. We offer personal support and education to families of the seriously mentally ill; information on major mental illnesses to the community at large; and advocacy on behalf of the seriously mentally ill and their families. Our programs include one-to-one peer counselling, support groups, the 12-session Family to Family education program, the Partnership Program (in the schools), Public Education Meetings at Lions Gate Hospital, participation in public awareness events, and recreational/social activities with psychiatric patients.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation leads the way towards greater understanding of the root causes of heart disease and stroke. The Foundation relies heavily on public donations to ensure vital heart and stroke research continues. We need your help. You`re at the heart of it.
The world's first organization devoted to providing support for research and education into the causes, diagnoses, prevention and treatment of all liver disease. Our mandate is to promote liver health and to reduce the incidence and impact of all liver disease. To achieve this goal, we work through our volunteer chapters across the country to improve public awareness and understanding of liver health and liver disease, raise funds for research and reach out to liver disease patients and their families.
The Harvest Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to extending `a hand up, not a hand out` to those who are experiencing difficult life circumstances. The services provided by the Harvest include: food hampers, clothing for those attending job interviews or starting new work, private counseling, and the provision of community resource information. The programs and services that are offered free of charge to Harvest clients are intended to meet their immediate needs, to affirm their dignity, to build their self-confidence, and to teach them the life skills they need
