West Vancouver has prospered and improved under Ron Wood's leadership. He has the vision and the energy to make our community even better as we move towards 2010.

Dear Fellow Citizen,

As a 35-year resident and parent in West Vancouver, I have deeply appreciated the unique environment and community we are privileged to enjoy on the North Shore mountainside. 1n 1999, after nine years as a Councillor, I was elected as your Mayor for the first time, and then re-elected in 2002. In those six short years I have been proud to help shape an entirely new generation of Parks and Recreation facilities including  brand new homes in the west for our fire and police services at Gleneagles.

• Major Aquatic Centre and Ice Arena Renovations
• All-weather sports fields in Ambleside Park
• Award winning Gleneagles Community Centre and Adventure Park
• First adventure park for skateboarding and mountain biking

West Vancouver is also leading British Columbia in proactive environmental protection.

• Rigorous new stream-protection regulations that exceed Provincial standards
• International awards for our new water treatment facility and the heating and cooling systems for our new community centres

Looking forward, my Council has laid the foundations of several exciting programs that I want to see through to completion in the coming three years:

• A major revitalization plan for Ambleside
• Completion of the new central Community Centre
• A new housing strategy for young and aging families
• A project to make West Vancouver a leading centre for the visual and performing arts
• Preparing for the 2010 Olympics

I am confident that together we can achieve these important goals as we have to date – without any new tax increases beyond the annual inflation rate.
