Art can change the lives of children in incredible ways, building self-esteem, nurturing self-confidence, and providing critical creative outlets. Since 1979, Arts Umbrella has made a difference for young people through its high-quality Dance, Theatre, and Visual Arts programs. More than 20,000 young artists discover the magic each year – and more than half access the arts at no cost to their families.

Free workshops for vulnerable schools, bursary programs for over-stretched families, and school performances for elementary audiences are just some of the ways Arts Umbrella removes the barriers to exploring the arts. And we deliver programs to communities where they are needed the most—from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside to Surrey’s Newton.
