West Vancouver is one of Canada's most beautiful and most affluent communities. Located just five minutes from downtown Vancouver, at the base of the North Shore mountains, the municipality boasts magnificent views of the ocean, the beach, Stanley Park, the Lions Gate Bridge and the city.

With close to 45,000 residents, this family oriented community has lots to offer. From skiing at the top of Cypress Mountain, to cruise ships sailing to Alaska along the shores of Ambleside beach (see our web cams), life always looks good from here.

West Vancouver is home to the communities of Ambleside, Dundarave, Park Royal, British Properties, Westhill, Camelot, Whitby Estates, Altamont, Caufeild and Horseshoe Bay (to name a few). Its scenery is only second place to the hospitality of its people and business owners.

When you stroll along the seawall or down the different village streets, don't be surprised if you see some you recognize. West Vancover is the home-away-from-home for many movie stars, musicians and professional athletes who are often seen dining in a fine restaurant or just sipping coffee at the cafes.

West Vancouver also has its own police force, fire department and transportation system. Lots of outdoor activities and indoor recreation, art galleries and a series of fabulous summer festivals make West Vancouver the perfect place to spend a holiday. From the shopping by the sea, to the dining on the beach, everything here is less than five minutes away, even on foot.

Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and West Vancouver Cypress Mountain 2010 Olympic Snowboarding

West Vancouver will be one of the host cities for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Cypress Mountain will play host to the snowboarding, half pipe and possibly even the moguls and snowboard cross Olympic events.
